Comment: As you can see I have barely changed in the last 40 years.  I kept looking forward to maturing, to little avail.  My only explanation is luck, pure good fortune.  I really never thought about reaching this age, (57 yrs.).  I certainly never figured I would be married this long, ( Joyce, 31+ yrs.).  My children, (Josh, 25 yrs. and Leah, 21yrs), are so wonderful and brilliant that I have to wear sun glasses.  I am loved and cared for far past any reasonable expectation.  I could not imagine changing anything.  Life has treated me well.
I did plan on attending the 30th reunion, however I ran into a bad mango in La Paz.  I do plan on coming this summer and enjoying seeing and talking with everyone, what fun.
I want to say what a huge quality effort this web site is, I do enjoy seeing the e-mails as you all go along.  I thank you for finding me.   Louie

Comment: Thanks to Veva and Laurie for pulling this off!  High school feels like a lifetime away.......  for the last 27 or 28 years New Mexico has become home to me.  While I never did have children of my own, I raised my grandson, Gabriel, for ten years (through my marriage), who is now 16 and surprised us all by bringing in a new life among us - Luciano is his name, and is now four months old.  Wow.  I also have a granddaughter who works for a dentist - that doesn't begin to describe her though.  I have two children who live with me now and one has called me Grandma since she met me five years ago - seems to be a major calling in my life. I don't really feel like a grandma - but i notice that increasingly I'm getting senior discounts without asking for them - they just show up on the receipts or tickets..........

I've served as an executive director of an agency charged with pulling families out of poverty for the last eight years - a challenge sometimes met.  I've mostly been involved in the non-profit world for my professional life - (or social profits as we like to call ourselves). At the agency that I am director of now, we give people opportunities to start businesses, become housed if they are not, and also repair housing.  I'm never bored.  I am thriving in the SW as I noticed others have as well, though whenever I return to the NW I am struck by how it is always home to me - no other place holds me like the NW does.  It's been a blast catching up with others this way - wishing everyone a good new year........

Comment: Even though I still consider myself an Oregonian, I've lived most of my life in the South. I'm fortunate to live in a fairly small liberal city (Thomas Jefferson's home town) and I work for an environmental organization with two other former Oregonians.

As much as I love Oregon, the South has a lot to offer: friendly people (I actually know all my neighbors), great food (if you've never tried shrimp with cheese grits, you really haven't lived), and three wonderful seasons (every summer I question my sanity).

I'm looking forward to seeing y'all in August.

Comment: I only went to LOHS for 1 1/2 years, and came from Seattle, was traumatized, but met some awesome people.  Guess it was good for the soul!  :)
We live in Central Oregon, but my heart is in the San Juans, where I grew up spending my summers, and now will be rebuilding our cabin and using it as my place to paint and breathe in the salt air.  If for some reason we don't make it to the reunion, I'll be on the beach!  I had better learn to download a picture, since one of my "wild women" pics has been put as my "now"!  I do other types of artwork, but the "ladies" have been very good to me, and I actually DO make a living as an artist!
Grandchildren: one, Leo! almost one year old!
