40 years is a long time, and there's a lot of water under that bridge! We are living in Arizona and, it turns out, I like being warm and dry. Someone asked me if I was retired, and I told him that I sell Real Estate in the Valley of the Sun, and he said-"Oh, I guess you are then." Even though we have been gone about 35 years our daughter managed to marry the son of a LOHS graduate. Small world-they're everywhere! Looking forward to bumping into a few more at the Reunion. |

I am looking forward to the Friday evening event and seeing classmates I haven’t seen since graduation – I’ve missed all the previous reunions for family and distance reasons so that makes this one even more special. I hope the following isn’t too much information but after reading several entries I wanted to share the following… David Altman (Wilson High School class of ’69) and I have been together for over 37 years. Because he wanted to join the Peace Corps when we met, we were off to Africa in 1974 - as soon as he finished his undergrad in French Literature from Vanderbilt University and I finished nursing school. While working with Tunisia with the Peace Corps David realized he wanted to be part of the green revolution (in agriculture), and so upon our return to Oregon and birth of daughter Erin he pursued a graduate program in plant sciences at OSU. During this time I completed a nurse practitioner program at OHSU and we had baby girl #2 (Regan). We left Oregon for Minnesota in 1977 for David to complete a PhD in plant genetics. We had our third child, our son Devin, while we were in the Twin Cities but after the PhD and a post doc for David we were off to a 9 year stint in College Station, Texas. David had a position on the genetics faculty at Texas A&M University and while we were there I ran a private not-for-profit clinic that provided health care to low income pregnant women. Our clinic was even named by George Bush senior as one of his “1000 Points of Light”! We left Texas for Ithaca, New York in 1992 when David accepted a full professor faculty position at Cornell University. I continued to work in not-for-profit women’s health care and take our 3 competitive swimmers to practice and swim meets in addition to all the other parenting joys of teen and pre-teen children. We moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1995 and had 8 very wonderful years - David was now in the plant genetics business world and completed an MBA while I continued to work as a nurse practitioner and then as a senior manager in the not-for-profit women’s health care field. I also became a quilter while we lived in Nashville, something I still spend as much time doing as I can. We were fortunate to move home to Oregon in 2003 because David’s successful consulting company allowed him to work from any location. I am still enjoying management in women’s health care as the VP of Clinical Services with Planned Parenthood in Portland. David continues to consult with new wine and grape and other business ventures but he also enjoys a full time gig with the non-profit group “Central City Concern” in Portland as their CFO. We live in Oregon’s beautiful wine country (in Dundee) and are lucky enough to have all 3 of our children living close to us. We appreciate life every day, especially if good wine is involved, and we relish being back home and near my mother and most of my 7 siblings. Thank you to those who put together this fantastic web site – I look forward to seeing folks at the Friday and Saturday events - it’s good to be home! |

I have lived in Lake Oswego/West Linn area most of the time since graduation except when I flew in The Air Force for an Air Rescue & Recovery Squadron during the Vietnam Era. Hobbies include: Mountaineering, Snow Skiing, Scuba Diving, Hiking, Dinning Out, Movies, and Travel. I now spend majority of my time either in this area or my parents 100 acre ranch in the Olympic Pennisula. |

My grand-daughter graduates from HS this week. She and my daughter were asking about my high-school days. Wow,that was a life time ago. After high school I traveled and attended college. I currently live in Clackamas and work at Portland Community College, Sylvania Campus. For fun I play an accordion in a polka band and enjoy my grandchildren.
