Comment: I have been married to Fred for 35 years, as of this July.  We have two great grown kids.  We also have one wonderful grandbaby and one on the way.  I have  been very fortunate!!

I have been able to be mostly a stay-at-home  Mom while my kids were growing up, with part-time jobs  in Interior

Design and as a Dental Receptionist.  I  retired from the dental field about a year-and a-half ago and

am now doing volunteer work at the Zoo, and loving being a grandma!

I have fond memories of all of you, and am looking forward to seeing you all in August!

Art has his fingers in a few things, Still a member of the Brother Speed Motorcycle club (35 years) and now Band Manager for his wife's Blues Band Francine West and the High Speed Wobblers.  They host a jam session at the Trail's End Saloon every Wednesday at 7:30 - a good time for us old farts.   He and Francine have been married about 35 years and have lived in Sherwood a long time. Can't afford to live in the hometown.

After graduating from LOHS, I spent a year at University of Oregon, majoring in Anthropology. Then I transferred to Portland State University, cross-majoring in Anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies. Thanks to a couple of Fellowships, a small trust fund and a part-time job at a Portland hospital, I graduated in 1972 with an airline ticket to San Francisco (my family had moved to the Bay Area) and $49 in my pocket. In 1973 I started work at Standard Oil Company of California (that degree in Anthropology turned out to be worth something after all.) 36 years later, I’m still working for Chevron Corporation and recently became a Certified Records Manager. I’m living in a condominium in San Ramon and have recently put my older townhouse on the market.

My mother used to tell me that I should write a book about my life back when she would get disgusted with my choices and the things that would happen to me. She hasn’t said that to me for about the last 20 years or so, so I guess things are looking up.

Growing up in LO meant (at least for me and I think a bunch of you as well) that I had a pretty sheltered life. My mom grew up on a dairy, met the man of her dreams and married him quick, never having to work a job from that day on. I figured that was how things were supposed to happen. I figured wrong. My first try at marriage did succeed in a couple of things however. One, it royally pissed my dad off, and two, I have two wonderful sons out of that relationship. After 13 years, I finally had had enough abuse, (both on the receiving end and the dishing it out end) and left looking for a more peaceful existence.

This time around I am happy to say I made an awesome choice. Dan and I are going on 20 years and are the best of friends and lovers. Our four grown children all live in the Northwest and we have 2 beautiful healthy grandsons, both just one year old. We have a home on Bull Mountain in Tigard that we enjoy very much.

It seems in the 40 past years that I have lived several lifetimes and yet it has gone by in a frenzied blur. I can hardly grasp that the boomers are now grey hairs, not long hairs, if you have hairs. I have loved looking at the photos of all of you and reading about your successes. Holy Moly, Harry Hostetler, way to go, dude! Sandy Sciuto, you look marvelous. Art West, don’t you know that Sherwood has more money per capita than L.O.? Jim Fursman, the years have been good to you. Jane Gardner, I knew you would make it in the art world. As for me, I had an interior design business for a number of years. Now, I am doing design work for Contract Furnishings Mart on 72nd Ave in Tigard. Come by and see me!!

After graduation, I attended and graduated in Education from PSU.  I was pleased to be hired on at the Beaverton School District before I graduated.  (Remember it was difficult to find a teaching position at that time!!)  I continued my education with post-graduate work at Berkeley, Yale and the University of Northern Colorado.  After teaching 8 years in Beaverton, I took a position at the University of Northern Colorado and subsequently, PSU.  While at PSU, PGE offered me a position in their Education Department.  S0, I left the University (encouraged by my father--He was SO corporate!) and joined the private sector.  Fabulous move, as I ended up heading up not only the Education Department at PGE but many other departments, including Community Relations.  I had a wonderful career at PGE, including an opportunity to work in Houston when Enron purchased PGE!  While in Houston, I helped shape Enron's Community Relation's Department and even started their Foundation. I actully ended up giving over $20 million of Enron's money to needy charities.  (I've often contemplated writing a book entitled: " I tried to help Enron find its HEART!!!!) While in Houston, they awarded me the position of VP of National Community Relations.  I had a grand time there!  Most of my staff had degrees from Harvard, Rice, Wharton School-U of P, etc.  Very bright "kids"!  (I was probably the oldest person there!!) Long story short,  my smart husband could not figure out how Enron was making money. Go figure!!! As a result, we decided that it might be a good time to retire from PGE.  Consequently, after 18 years there, I retired from PGE at age 48 and moved to Palm Springs.  Only recently, we purchased a home in Salem as well. (To be closer to my husband's kids.)  We are in Salem for at least 6 months a year.
